Bharat Interface for Money – BHIM app is one more initiative after Demonetization by Mr.Narendra Modi. On December 30th, 2016 at a Digi Dhan program held in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) to move India towards a digital economic nation. It has been developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for a reliable, fast and secure digital payments across the country. After BHIM app download launched by Modi, People are unable to find the app on play store for few hours. Later, It went live on Play store. Here we provide detailed steps to download BHIM android app.

BHIM is interoperable with Unified payments Interface (UPI), uses your mobile number and bank account to set up a cashless interface for the application users. This application is currently available on Play store for android users and soon be available for Windows and IOS.

How does it BHIM app work?
It works in 3 different ways.
- Using your mobile number
- Using QR code
- Through UPI address
The first thing to go with is to install the app and choose your language. (Currently, it is available only in English and Hindi and some regional languages will be added soon).
Mobile number verification is done, make sure that you have a registered the same mobile number at your Bank.
Do register your bank account with BHIM and set a UPI PIN. Security is provided using this PIN that was set on start which can be changed later. You have the option of changing your bank details at any time on your app.
- Mobile number is used as your payment address to send, receive money from anyone across the country.
- You have a QR code generated in your profile. This also can be saved as an image and can be sent to everyone for transactions.
Merchants can display this QR code which can be scanned for the transaction.
- You have the option of creating VPA UPI at your bank official app through which you can transact on BHIM.
- Transaction limit on this application is Rs10,000 per transaction and the daily limit is up to Rs20,000.
- Money can also be sent to non-UPI supported banks using IFSC and MMID codes.
Note: There are no transaction charges through BHIM but the banks you use may levy charges for UPI and IMPS transactions which is not yet announced.
As we all know that India is a developing country in which everyone can’t afford for a smartphone and internet connectivity. But this initiation by Mr.Narendra Modi is a push towards the digital economic India. It may take a long run to perfectly implement this initiative.
